Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LinkID ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a LinkID account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, it will be removed.

3. Description of Service

LinkID is a personal, non-commercial account linking system that provides:

• Single sign-on (SSO) for dejelnieks.lv services and connected applications
• Account management and profile customization (avatar, display name)
• OAuth authentication for third-party applications
• Per-application data storage accessible through connected applications

4. User Accounts

To use LinkID, you must create an account with:

• A unique username (3-20 characters, lowercase letters and numbers only)
• A secure password (minimum 8 characters)

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials, including your recovery code. The recovery code is shown only once during registration and is the only way to recover your account if you forget your password.

5. Account Modifications

You may modify your account as follows:

• Username: Can be changed once every 30 days
• Display Name: Can be changed once per minute
• Avatar: Can be uploaded or removed at any time. Avatars are automatically resized and stored as a small static image (source file up to ~500 KB)
• Password: Can be changed with current-password verification, no more than once every 24 hours

6. User Conduct

Your behavior on LinkID and all connected applications is governed by our Community Guidelines. In summary, you agree not to:

• Harass, bully, or threaten other users
• Post hateful, explicit, or harmful content
• Spam or engage in deceptive practices
• Attempt to access other accounts or exploit security vulnerabilities
• Attempt to escalate privileges or bypass access controls
• Create multiple accounts to evade suspensions
• Impersonate other users or entities
• Use the Service for any illegal activities

7. Security Measures

For your protection, we implement the following security measures:

• Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): You can optionally enable a time-based one-time code (TOTP) from an authenticator app as a second factor
• Geographic Verification: When logging in from a new country, you may be asked to verify with your recovery code. You can manage your trusted locations from your profile
• Public / Shared Computer: At login you can choose not to be kept signed in, and not to trust the current location
• Rate Limiting: Login attempts are limited, and abusive IP addresses may be temporarily blocked
• Session Management: You can view and terminate active sessions from your profile
• Security Audit Log: Security-relevant events (such as logins, password and 2FA changes) are recorded to help detect and investigate suspicious activity
• Automatic Threat Detection: Certain malicious actions (such as privilege escalation attempts) are detected and enforced automatically

8. Third-Party Applications

LinkID allows you to connect your account to third-party applications ("Connected Applications"). When you authorize an application:

• The application may access your username, display name, and avatar
• The application may store and retrieve data associated with your account
• You can revoke access and delete application data at any time from your profile
• Content you create in connected applications (messages, profile content, uploads) may be subject to moderation by application administrators

Each connected application may have its own additional rules. Violations in any connected application may affect your LinkID account. You are responsible for your conduct across all connected applications.

9. Account Suspension

9.1 Grounds for Suspension

Your account may be suspended for violating these Terms of Service or the Community Guidelines. Suspension may be applied manually by an administrator or automatically by the system when certain violations are detected.

9.2 Effect of Suspension

When your account is suspended:

• You lose access to all connected applications immediately
• Your active sessions in connected applications are terminated
• You can still access the LinkID suspension page to view the reason and submit an appeal
• Your account data is preserved (not deleted)

9.3 Appeals

Every suspension can be appealed. From the suspension page, you can submit a message to the administrator explaining your perspective. Appeals are reviewed manually. If your appeal is accepted, your account will be restored with full access.

9.4 Protective Lock

If we detect signs that your account may have been compromised (for example, suspicious sign-ins or unexpected security changes), we may apply a protective lock as a precaution rather than as a punishment. In this case the suspension page will offer an account-recovery option: you regain access by verifying your identity with your recovery code, after which your password and two-factor settings are reset. A protective lock may be applied automatically or by an administrator.

10. Account Termination

10.1 Voluntary Deletion

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion:

• Your account will be soft-deleted for 30 days
• You can restore your account by logging in during this period
• After 30 days, your data will be permanently deleted

10.2 Abandoned Account Deletion

Accounts that have not been used through any connected application for 1 year will be automatically and permanently deleted. To keep your account active, use it through at least one connected application within any 12-month period.

11. Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using LinkID, you consent to the collection and use of your data as described therein.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data or account access.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
